If you buy packaged foods, you need to read labels more today than ever before! Because of increasing consumer awareness about eating more healthfully, manufacturers are designing food packages to make it look like the food inside the package is healthy. But if you read and interpret the ingredients on the label, there's a very good chance that you'll find that is not the case. Many of the ingredients added to food are harmful. And it's even legal for food manufacturers to add cancer-causing substances to the food they produce.

Almost all packaged foods, even so called "health foods," have additives in them, and many are harmful or inadequately tested. For example: Aspartame, also known as NutraSweet and Equal, breaks down into substances called excititoxins which excite nerve cells in the brain to death. Ninety-two different symptoms from aspartame were reported to the FDA, including headaches, dizziness, seizures, speech and visual impairment, blindness and even death. It can cause symptoms which mimic the symptoms of numerous diseases, including Alzheimer's, epilepsy, chronic fatigue syndrome, depression, multiple sclerosis, Parkinson's, Gulf War Syndrome and mental illness. Even people who don't experience symptoms can suffer long term damage. Carrageenan, a seaweed derivative often found in "health food" products, is a suspected carcinogen; it may contain hidden MSG. BHT, legal in the U.S. but banned in England, is associated with liver and kidney damage, behavioral problems, infertility, weakened immune system, birth defects and cancer. Brominated vegetable oil (BVO), an ingredient in a popular sports drink, and pediatric electrolyte replacement beverage is considered unsafe by the FDA, but can still lawfully be used until the FDA takes further action. It is linked to major organ system damage, birth defects and growth problems. Hydrogenated and partially hydrogenated vegetable oils, found in most packaged products, are associated with heart disease, breast and colon cancer, atherosclerosis and elevated cholesterol. MSG is an excitotoxin which can excite nerve cells in the brain to death. Even people who don't experience reactions from consuming MSG can suffer long term damage. MSG can be hidden in many different ingredients, including broth, hydrolyzed protein, barley malt and whey protein. Nitrates and nitrites, powerful cancer-causing agents, are considered dangerous by the FDA, but are not banned because they prevent botulism. These are only a few examples of the many harmful substances legally added to our food.

So, be sure that what you're eating is healthy. With this book, you will discover how quick and easy it is to tell if the food you're buying contains dangerous ingredients. It contains all the information about food additives contained in the previous editions and more, updated information on the safety of the additives, more information on MSG, hidden MSG and free glutamates and new additives, like Olestra, Salatrim, Sucralose and Splenda. Veteran journalist John Clor has owned, raced, worked on and written about Fords and Mustangs for nearly 40 years. The problem with some car books is that they are little more than expanded sales brochures. This one is much more. It has interviews with the engineers and Ford executives involved in creating this car, the problems they faced, and the market conditions. This book makes clear the thinking and rationale that went into the decisions designing this car. The book gives a brief history of the Mustang line, but that is not its main purpose. I was glad to see that it spends many more pages on the development of the 2015 Mustang; I already have several books on the history of the Mustang. There are also plenty of images showing some of the design ideas along the way as the car slowly took shape, and there are many interesting accounts about this process, including the decisions to build a right hand drive model for foreign markets, whether or not to have the V-6 return, and developing independent rear suspension across the line as standard equipment. There is much, much more in this book, but I won't spoil those surprises.

Many times books like this are primarily a bunch of pretty pictures without much "meat" to the text of the book. This book is VERY unlike that. John Clor took the time not only to thoroughly investigate the 6th Generation Mustang, but also the 1st through 5th Generation Mustangs as well. It is a GREAT read, well worth it and really in-depth "insider" knowledge of Ford and Ford Performance.

Pretty cool book, fairly informative after reviewing it a bit deeper. Offers some insight to gang activities that the graff cats pulled into the graff game. Explains not only some of the old school symbols & characters used from some of the early gangs all over the US. Seeing how much went from gang graff to graff crews is pretty slick & stuff I wasn’t aware of before.Hardcover is a must. They did a great job with the foil & embossed hardcover & the attached cloth bookmark is definitely a nice touch. I’m a book collector, so this is on the premium end of my stuff & stoked to have picked it up on such a good deal.Good variety of writers/artists & styles to match. Some well known, others not so much. Tags to alphabets, this walks you through it all. The introduction was well written & thought out, do not bypass it, critical if you’re trying to understand graff & handstyles genesis & why they maintain such high regard among graffers. Little bit of history can go a long way & they did a solid job in presenting it. When I first heard this book was being produced I knew I was going to buy it. I didn't have to know who was going to be included, I just knew I was going to get it and love it. Now that I have it, I am in no way disappointed. The book is very well produced. The hardcover is chunky and looks like it will stand up well to repeated readings. The recessed electric blue lettering on the stark black background presents a clean, stylish look. I would have liked a bookcover of some sort because I can see myself getting all sorts of finger prints on this but that's just a personal thing. This book is definitely one you can leave on the table without it looking to "graffiti-ish" if that's a concern.As for the artists included in the book, there seems to be representation from most major regions of the country. Of course there will be gripes that certain folks are missing. As a DC area guy I would have liked to see the Mid-Atlantic area a little more fleshed out. I can imagine that there are a whole lot of writers that Mr. Acker wanted to get in the book but wasn't able to for any number of reasons.I think this book will appeal to a broad spectrum of people from graffiti writers interested in their history to typography fans to graphic designers looking for fresh inspiration. Buy this book! You won't be disappointed.

Features a lot of dope writers with dope styles and breaks them down pretty well. The PNW kinda smushed in together with Frisco, and even though I know why that is, I feel like PNW could have gotten more love. There are a number of names that specialize in hardcore handstyles that less skilled writers could benefit from. Either way, don't listen to the haters, this book can fast track you on technique for beginners or help enhance your current technique for journeymen, just make sure you put your own twist on it stylewise.

This book is not your usual graffiti coffee table book. There are no colorful murals or burners! No, Christian Acker gets to the bottom of it all, connecting the geographical and aesthetic dots of graffiti styles for the first time.This is the most in-depth books on the subject on graffiti style! It might be a bit boring to the uneducated eye, but what Mr.Acker has done has never been done before. The book is missing a couple of the big kings of style, which I suspect is only due to arrogance and ignorance, but there are some really cool heavy hitters along with some no-names. Yet, every writer has his well deserved place and becomes part of the bigger picture.Christian Acker's endless collecting of style samples has has left us with a book that will withstand any trend. It is a true cultural record that should be on the bookshelf of anybody who is interested in street art or graffiti.

This is the second time I've purchased this book. The first was a gift - but, then I had to snag a copy for myself. This is the absolute coolest instructional book I've ever purchased! I love hand lettering / graffiti / script, but have never had a chance to be exposed to so many different styles in one place. The historical context that Christian Acker provides also makes for a much more personalized, inspiring experience.

I cannot praise Flip The Script enough. The dedicated author has compiled decades worth of underground history and skill, content that might have otherwise be impossible to access without this book. The commentary, tips/tricks, and cross-referencing thoroughly gives the reader access to an art form many disregard, partially out of misunderstanding and its own very nature of being illegal.My only quip is the felt material the cover is lined with, as it picks up dust and lint like nobody's business. I almost didn't include this comment because I honestly could not praise Christian P Acker's efforts any more and I do not want the cover to distract from the extraordinary material contained within. Don't judge a book by it's cover blah blah blahOverall, this book is built well and provides a comprehensive look into the handstyle movement of graffiti. If you are interested in learning about or practicing graffiti, this is a must buy, especially considering the cost.

Without saying this book 'is this', 'or that', or even "good/bad"... I'll say this book really satisfies a personal thirst for knowledge that rarely is given the 'textbook treatment'. The effort to share a compendium of street knowledge, in printed word, about, hand-printed words - MMM-MMM-'DELISHOUS!

It took me two days to set aside 3 hours to be alone and marvel over this fantastic book. Once it arrived and I got to thumb through it seeing the detailed work put into this effort, I knew I'd need some quiet time to absorb this beast.

Just the barebones of point groups, projection operators, vibrational modes, and mo theory. A very gentle introduction for chemistry students who have never seen the formalism of groups before. Gets to the point fast, but leaves one asking for a bit more. Could be read before reading Cotton in an undergraduate intro to symmetry in the context of inorganic chemistry. Organic applications are not included, unfortunately.
